EU, UN Sign K125M Zambia Drought Response Deal!!

The European Union (EU) has scaled up its support to Zambia’s drought response through the United Nations (UN) by signing a cooperation agreement worth K125 million Kwacha.

This is meant to prevent severe nutrient deficiencies among most affected areas in Southern and Western Provinces.

European Union Ambassador to Zambia and COMESA, Karolina Stasiak, says the funds will complement governments’ efforts to support the most vulnerable districts, with a focus on Zambezi, Kalabo, Shangombo, Mongu and Monze.

United Nations Resident Coordinator to Zambia, Beatrice Mutali, says about 89,741 women and children targeted will receive food assistance, cash transfers, nutrient supplements.
