National Road Fund Agency Far Collects K1.5 Billion From Tolls!! The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) has between January and May 2024 collected and disbursed K1.5 billion from tolls. NRFA public relations manager Alphonsius Hamachila says from the pattern of the collections so far, the agency is set to beat its K2.2 billion collection target this year. Mr Hamachila was speaking at the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Ndola yesterday. “The revenue was disbursed for new and ongoing road projects and related activities,” he said. Mr Hamachila said NRFA processed 8.1 million vehicle passages under the frequent user discounts and 102,000 under the local user discounts. NRFA collects tolls from 38 collection points that include 27 inland gates and 11 ports of entry. Mr Hamachila said out of the total K1.5 billion collected in the period under review, K798 million was collected from inland toll gates, while K767 million came from the ports of entry. He said the agency collected K223 million from foreign registered motor vehicles. Meanwhile, Mr Hamachila said the agency has been promoting the use of electronic toll cards at its facilities across the country. He said K313 million was collected using the cashless payment platform. Mr Hamachila said the agency is complementing the public-private partnership (PPP)-driven road infrastructure development by leveraging on the national tolling programme.
